HOW TO

Care For Your Art

Properly caring for your framed art helps maintain its value and original vibrancy for future generations.  Before, during, and after framing, we recommend the following guidelines when caring for your artwork.

Cleaning Framed Art with Glass:

  • Remove hanging piece from wall and lay gently on flat, stable, surface.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Spray glass cleaner onto cloth (NEVER spray glass cleaner directly onto glass to prevent liquid from seeping behind glass and ruining art).
  • Wipe damped cloth gently over glass.
  • Dry with lint-free cloth.

Cleaning Framed Art with Plexi-Glass/Acrylic:

  • Remove hanging piece from wall and lay gently on flat, stable, surface.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Spray ammonia-free cleaner or special plexi/acrylic cleaner onto cloth (NEVER spray cleaner directly onto plexi).
  • If you do not have an ammonia-free glass cleaner, use a mixture of mild soap and water (ammonia-based cleaners, such as Windex may cloud plexi).
  • Wipe damped cloth gently over plexi/acrylic.
  • Dry with lint-free cloth.
  • NOTE: Never use anything abrasive or sharp on plexi as it will scratch easily.
